Matt Johns
Host of Purpose Driven Capital | Author | Investment Banker
Matt Johns is an entrepreneur, former nonprofit leader, and investment banker on a mission to help people use their money to fulfill their purpose.
He didn’t take the usual road to investment banking. His career began in a soup kitchen, not a skyscraper, where he learned from men and women who had almost nothing. He saw firsthand how a single dollar could restore hope or fuel destruction.
From there, he moved into youth ministry, fielding life’s biggest questions from teenagers hungry for meaning, and later into nonprofit leadership, working alongside some of the nation’s most prominent philanthropists and community leaders to help families fighting to survive.
Those experiences cemented his belief that money is a tool—one that shapes the world for better or for worse.
When he entered the world of private markets, Matt saw a powerful opportunity to direct capital away from vice and toward virtue. As founder and managing partner of HoneyHive Capital, he helps the world’s largest allocators and other prominent investors align their capital with their deepest values. He uses his framework to engage deals that pursue the good, the true, and the beautiful—and to avoid those that don’t harm.
In his first book, Purpose Driven Capital, Matt shares the framework developed from this uncommon journey. Building on the insights from his podcast of the same name, he offers a practical guide to making intentional decisions about spending, investing, and giving so readers can shape a legacy that reflects their highest purpose and unique mission.
Matt earned his MBA from LSU-Shreveport, a BA from Baylor University, and holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 financial licenses. As a result, he brings a unique mix of credibility and conviction.
